Así lo declaró al diario londinense The Times, que titula el artículo “Las Islas Malvinas s perderán, advierte héroe de guerra”, en el que Thompson señala: “Los argentinos tienen una brigada de marina. Tienen una brigada de paracaidistas y algunas buenas fuerzas especiales. Todo lo que tienen que hacer es llevar a estos tipos a las islas durante el tiempo necesario para destruir los aviones Typhoon (de combate de la Real Fuerza Aérea) y es el fin”
A pesar de que nada está más lejos en el gobierno argentino de proponer un conflicto bélico, Thompson -a cargo de la brigada de los Royal Marines y los paracaidistas durante el conflicto- dijo que su país no podría proteger las islas porque no cuenta con un portaaviones
Como en 1982, la única manera que tendría el Reino Unido de enviar refuerzos sería por mar, pero en esta ocasión el país no tiene portaaviones, indicó al general. “Tenés que llevar tu propio apoyo aéreo y no puedes hacerlo sin un portaaviones. Fin de la historia”, recalcó en lo que parecería ser un pase de factura por recortes al área de defensa.
Además, el militar retirado expresó que cree que la presidenta argentina Cristina Kirchner hace todo lo posible para forzar al primer ministro británico, David Cameron, a dialogar sobre la soberanía de las Malvinas, en posesión británica desde 1833
eso es cierto, vendieron los portaaviones a australia, los harriers a usa y australia …se comieron el cambio de rumbo menemista…pero no comamos sapos nosotros…si mañana hay guerra con los acuerdos de arriendo existentes australia le facilitaria nuevamente los portaaviones.

The history of the Islands is the story of two opposing colonial monarchies England and Spain batting the territory back and forth back in the day when Empire building was de rigueur. So the currently conflicting positions between Gt Britain and Argentina are the doleful inheritance of the, now largely discredited, imperial policies of 16th century European monarchs. The islands themselves existed uninhabited for millions of years before the 16th century and will probably survive the extinction of the human race for millions more. The tragedy of 1982, when 900 young lives were lost was that it was caused by the folly of two political leaders, Galtieri and Thatcher, who were both losing their grip on the reins of power and used the conflict as a distraction. It was described at the time by a Chilean commentator as being like, “Two bald men fighting over a comb”.
Now thirty years later the sound of sabres rattling is rising again. I am not a politician or a diplomat, and have no ready solution, but I am convinced it’s time to sue for peace and seek a compromise, not push for victory. At the end of the day what really matters is that not one more drop of blood is shed on the altar of the imperial aspirations of long dead kings.[/SPOILER

no se si es obligacion para un artista “jugársela”… por ahí los periodistas le preguntan cosas que debería preguntárselas a un diplomático… me imagino que Waters, en este caso, debe cuidarse en todo el mundo, en todos lados se cuecen habas, con esta clase de preguntas que no tiene nada que ver con su oficio en si…

Seguro… no es mi ídolo ni nada que se le parezca… pero precisamente por eso, es medio complicado tener que viajar por el mundo tomando posturas a cada lugar que vas… seguramente si va a China le preguntarán sobre el Tibet, si va al Tibet, sobre China; si va a la India sobre los quilombos con Paquistan; en Serbia de los croatas, en croacia de los serbios; en una tribu tutsi sobre los hutus (? asi es? :lol: ); en la tribu hutu sobre tutsis… que se yo… para evitar tantos quilombos, me parece que lo mejor es que dedique solamente a tocar su musica y listo, al que le guste que la escuche…
