Appetite For Destruction

Appetite for Destruction disco debut de la banda de rock Guns N’ Roses en el año 1987.
“Welcome to the Jungle”, “Paradise City”, y “Sweet Child O’ Mine” son las canciones más reconocidas y que caracterizan más a menudo a esta banda, las cuales han influenciado la escena de la música popular en los Estados Unidos, además de servir de inspiración a numerosos covers.
El álbum ha vendido más de 28 millones de copias (15 millones solo en los Estados Unidos). Esto fue un año después de lanzado, ya que en el primer año había vendido solamente 500 mil discos, en 1987.
La razón fue que la cadena MTV se había negado a mostrar videos de la banda, porque la cubierta original del disco, basado en una pintura de Robert Williams, mostraba un robot violador, lo cual fue considerado ofensivo por la cadena televisiva. La banda cambio entonces la cubierta, y puso la original dentro del disco, mostrando ahora un crucifijo con los cráneos de los cinco miembros de la banda, algo así al estilo de las portadas de los álbumes de Grateful Dead. Esto no fue suficiente para MTV , y la cadena continuó con su bloqueo. Finalmente, David Geffen, entonces presidente de Geffen Records, llamó a MTV y rogó que mostraran el vídeo de “Welcome to the Jungle”. MTV accedió a mostrarlo solo un domingo a las 2 de la madrugada. La canción llegó a ser la canción más solicitada en MTV en solo 24 horas.
En el 2001, la revista “Q” nombró “Appetite for Destruction” como uno de los 50 Álbumes Más Heavys de todos los tiempos. En el 2003, la cadena televisiva VH1 lo nombro como el Álbum Número 42 de todos los tiempos.
La canción Welcome to the Jungle inspiró la obra teatral de denuncia social del mismo nombre del escritor antártico Sergio Salvatierra de 1988.

a diferencia de the division bell, este es realmente inovador. en the division bell aparecen muchas cosas ya hechas en floyd antes. y es un poco mas pop, con temas como coming to back to life, o take it back.
a mi particularmente me gusta mucho atom heart mother.
